When your world disintegrates, not even
waking in the arms of an attractive man helps. Yesterday, Reenie discovered her fiancée
was unfaithful, saw him commit a murder and ran for her life; today, she wrecked her car.
This is no time to fall in love. Or is it?

Reenie was having
a bad day. Finding evidence of her fiancé's crimes and infidelities, then witnessing a
murder was bad enough. Now, just as she's almost reached refuge, she suffers a concussion
in an accident.
When the boat trailer he was towing broke loose and ran her off the road, Matt wanted to
take the injured woman to the hospital, but couldn't refuse her pleas to not report the
accident. It was obvious she was running from something or someone, so he took her home to
his family's marina and called his sister, a nurse, to examine her.
Reenie has no one to turn to. Her only relative is her grandmother, a governor's widow,
who is under the thumb of her political protege--the dangerous fiancée. She feels safe
with Matt, but fears bringing danger on him and his family if she tells him her story.
Nevertheless, she accepts a position as housekeeper while recuperating from her injuries.
IN THE RUNNING is
a fast paced, page turner of a tale, one which kept me on the edge from the first page to
the last. The plot develops quickly and logically; the characters are well drawn and
consistent. The dialogue and narrative move the story along while rounding out Reenie,
Matt, and his family. In spite of the fact she agreed to wed for her grandmother's sake,
Reenie is a strong, capable, and likable heroine. Matt is at a crossroads in life; meeting
Reenie gives him a sense of direction. Together, they battle those who would harm her. The
excitement holds throughout the book, with a couple of scenes where the excitement is
happily of a romantic nature.
Dee Lloyd is a
name to watch for. IN THE RUNNING is her first published novel, but there are two more in
the works. This short book has everything it needs for success: suspense, romance,
realism, and characters one can totally empathize with. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

MINE builds in intensity
and excitement to a fine, rip-roaring ending. Dee Lloyd offers pulse-pounding excitement
leavened by a tender love story.

... their growing mutual
attraction is wonderfully blended with the suspenseful action in the story. There are a
number of interesting surprises for the reader as Ms Lloyd takes them on an "E"
ride of suspense as each of the characters realize that the wonderful cook Reenie is
really the woman they are looking for. When Jon's machinations are about to be revealed
can Matt and all the others keep Reenie/Maura safe?
... Ms. Lloyd has a strong talent at creating believable scenarios and characters the
reader will care about ...If this is the quality anticipated in e-books, readers have been
rewarded well with this offering. IN THE RUNNING is a good solid read from an author who
shows lots of promise for the future.

When the heroine stood by
and watched her boss killed with no mental, physical or emotional reaction, I was prepared
to write the whole book off as a dud. Boy, am I glad I stuck with it. This fast-paced,
action-packed book turned into a real page-turner. Dee Lloyd has a real flair for
characterization. Her characters are so life-like and three dimensional, they feel like
neighbors-people you've known for a long time and have the ability to touch your heart. If
you enjoy romantic suspense, take a look at In the Running by Dee Lloyd -- This is a good
one.
