Bret's well-ordered life is already off the rails when the
lovely but bloody ghost confronts him on a dark, deserted road. His body is almost fully
recovered from the attack that nearly killed him but his nerves must be in worse shape
than he thought. Seeing ghosts?! He must be losing his grip on reality.
Milly spots the tall, attractive blond man the moment he
steps into the piano lounge. As she spins her web of magic on the audience, she is
intensely aware of the stranger's unwavering gaze. She doesn't realize she is woman Bret
saw on the road - or is she?

CHANCE...
5 Star Review!
Bret
Thornton thinks he hears saxophone music while he drives past the deserted site of a
projected retirement community in Palm Beach County. When a bloodied- looking woman
wearing a white dress standing right in the middle of the road suddenly appears, he stops,
to avoid hitting her. She utters these words: "Danger. Please. Warn her," before
she literally disappears into thin air. Bret is a tough security agent who definitely
doesn't believe in ghosts, but he knows he has just seen one. The bloodied appearance and
words of the ghostly woman haunt him so badly that he decides to stop for a drink at a
familiar bar run by an old friend.
When he arrives he thinks he was dreaming about the ghostly figure, for there on the
inside wall is a full length picture of the woman he just saw. Her name is Emilienne
Pelleter, a singer. During her performance she cannot take her eyes off this fascinating
blonde-haired man. There's something about him that attracts her.
When Bret asks to see the singer backstage, he finds out that his friend Buzz has been
dead for two years and the lady singing is actually, Milly, Buzz's widow and twin sister
of the ghost, Yvette, the woman he saw on the road. Milly takes offense at his bossy
attitude, and yells at him to leave. He ignores Milly's stubbornness and independent
attitude which he figures not only comes from running the bar and restaurant but from
worrying about her sister's disappearance. After some persuasion, Milly agrees to follow
Bret's suggestions by meeting him the next day to begin investigating her sister's
whereabouts.
Their investigation leads them to Kit and Ronald, the last
friends who saw her alive. When they direct Bret to the airport Inn to retrieve Yvette's
luggage, he finds that her red diary, The Book of Words, as she used to call it, is
missing. They are sure that someone has found written proof in her diary against them -
information perhaps deadly enough to have her killed. When Bret's Jag explodes, they know
they're onto something big. But will they find out in time what Yvette is trying to tell
them through her ghostly appearances on the road and Milly's dreams that gradually become
clearer? With the help of Bart, Bret's twin brother, they decide to continue their
investigation.
GHOST OF A CHANCE is NOT a typical ghost story. Ms. Lloyd cleverly weaves a paranormal
aspect in the form of a ghost as a secondary character into the story in a real way. This
is an exciting hunt and chase along with a romance. The plot is tightly woven; the
characters, well-drawn; the red herrings, spine- tingling. Many dangers lurk in the
shadows for these people as they explore the disappearance of Milly's sister.

Great Reading!! If you like paranormals,
romance, or mystery, then this is the book for you. Dee Lloyd has succeeded in
creating a ghostly tale that will haunt you after you read the last word of the
story. There is no hint of the graveyard about this story and the ghost will be sure
to win your sympathy.
Set in Florida in an area just beginning to
attract the developer's attention, Ms. Lloyd has created a believable setting and
characters down to the ghostly appearances. On those dark nights when you are
passing some desolate spot, you might remember this tale and find yourself looking out the
car window, searching for a pale blue light that moves across the ground.
This is a tightly plotted story offering
twists and turns and a fair share of red herrings as Milly and Bret, along with several
other interesting and believable characters try to find Milly's missing sister, Yvette.
The sensuality found in these pages as sparks
fly between the characters will keep you reading to answer that eternal question--will
they, won't they? This read is definitely a keeper by a very talented author.

"After years of assuming that any novel
with the word "romance" attached to it couldnt possibly appeal to me, I
found myself riveted and engrossed in a prime example of what had been, for me, a totally
alien and dreaded genre. Ghost of a Chance is, quite simply, a great read and I would
highly recommend it to anyone who likes quality fiction regardless of
genre-bias. I give this novel ****1/2 out of five stars" --
